February 25th - I get
emails asking about who and what COCO is. Well, we are a group of ~40
enthusiasts living in central Ohio (Columbus and surrounding area). We
come from all backgrounds and ages but have a common excitement for the
Chevelle/El Camino. We host the
Liberty Dealerships annual car show in Johnstown, and have recently
helped host the
C&D Chevrolet car show in Mt. Gilead.
Monies that we raise are donated throughout the year to charitable
organizations. There are no paid staff (it's all volunteer) and
membership dues offset expenses for a monthly newsletter, web-hosting, etc.
During car show season we try to cruise to the same show once a month, and
in June, members caravan to the
ACES Chevellebration just
outside Nashville. Our monthly meetings are typically at a local
restaurant, but we have had meetings at a body fabrication shop, muscle car
showroom, private Chevelle literature collection, etc. We hope to
branch out to do different things -- renting out a dyno shop, cruising to
Trim Parts, country cruise a
Scenic Byway, do a road rally or
poker run, participate in an autocross course, etc. If you want to
join our group, sign up here.

February 20th - Have you
seen the number of car related shows that are on?!? Between TLC (Overhaulin),
SpikeTV (Trucks,
HorsePower TV,
Muscle Car), and Speed (Two
Guys Garage, Car Crazy,
My Classic Car,
Pinks) channels my digital video recorder
is kept completely full. Have you seen the latest though? Its a
take off MTV's
Pimp My
Ride on CMT called
Trick My
Truck, where they take and redo an 18 wheeler. What you think I'm
making this stuff up??? Check it out if you don't believe me.

February 15th - Can you
believe that New York got 27" of snow in one day?? Dang that's a lot
of snow! Fear not, for there is always a Chevelle that is able to meet
the challenge. I present to you a car that I saw last year in a used
car lot just outside of Warren, Ohio.

February 10th - As you
can see from this site, its kept to bare minimum. No adds, no pop-ups,
no forum section, etc. There are plenty of sites where you can get
that info, and I just don't have the time to moderate or manage that level
of detail. Similarly, I don't post individual cars for sale, because
there is plenty of audience for that on
the Chevelle section of ebay.com
or the sales listings on
Team Chevelle. However, I got an email this week from a retired
police detective whose putting his daughter through college. Being a
father comes first, so he's looking for a good home for his (are you ready
for this...) 1969 SS 396 L78 car. It's one of just 201 imported into
Canada. Needless to say, I believe that this car should end up in the
hands of a true Chevelle enthusiast not just some yahoo who happens to have
extra money to toss around. I've created a
separate page with details on this car that is offered for sale.
Be warned that it may take a while to load because the pictures are large.
(Note, that no one within COCO has any personal knowledge of this car, the
information is the sole responsibility of the seller. COCO receives no
compensation for it mention.)

February 8th - The guys
over at Hot Rod Magazine have a tech article section titled "Best Bolt-Ons
For Your Car - Experts Reveal the Truth." I suppose the question is,
do you really care? Me either, but if its got a picture of a Chevelle
in it, then I'm obligated to tell you about it, right. (wink, wink)

February 5th - ALL POINTS
BULLETIN - we received the following email and pass it along:
Hi,
Just hoping to locate my first car, a ’66 Chevelle SS. It has sentimental
value as it was my first car and my now deceased dad helped me get it
road-ready. It has shaved door handles, black interior, and used to
have tow bar mounts attached to the front frame rails. If you or any
of your club members have seen or know the whereabouts of this car, I’d
really appreciate contact info for the current owner – even if the car is a
basket case again. I sold it in 1978 or 1979 in South Amherst, Ohio.
Thanks,
Alan Lauer

February 3rd - A couple
of weeks ago they had the Barrett-Jackson auto auction in Scottsdale, AZ.
Have you seen the results. Oh my!
Check out the full list. But here are the Chevelles by lot number
and if any of you have an LS6 convertible you might want to consider selling
-- check out lots 1287 and 1320.

February 2nd - Right
before Thanksgiving I was down in Cincinnati and came across this '71 Malibu
in a parking lot in Norwood. What struck me about it was the deep
green color and tan convertible top. Definitely an unusual combination.
The interior was stock Malibu trim but again had tan tweed bench seat.
I waited around for the owner, but no one came out. Click the pictures for
larger versions. -Martin

February 1st - Hey
everyone. I'm going to try this year to get back into updating this
site with all things Chevelle that come into my life. In the past I've
tried to be all encompassing, which lead to frustration and abandonment.
So I've cleaned off the webspace and will begin rebuilding it with photos,
stories, etc. -Martin |
