June 29th - Sorry I haven't updated the site in a couple of weeks, I've been out of town (Chicago, Cincinnati, etc.)  At any rate, on my drive back to Columbus I saw this nice Elky and snapped a quick picture.

June 14th - I couple of months ago I mentioned that I had seen a Chevelle used in a Cialis commercial.  I try to keep an eye on advertising that uses our beloved car, and while I don't mind seeing an A-boy pop up here and there to help promote products, I sometimes cringe when I see something really really wrong.  Take for example an ATT commercial from a couple of years ago.
Nothing bad about a late night drag race between a Chevy and a Pontiac, waived on by a cute little coed, but c'mon, that single racing strip down the center is just so wrong!  I'm no purist by any stretch of the imagination (my '70 SS 396 has cd player, A-pillar gauge pod, '71 sport wheels), but even I have to concede that they goofed it on that look.

June 10th - In my most recent Hot Rod Magazine, one of those annoying subscription cards caught my attention.  Aside from it being a picture of a red '70 Chevelle, what I noticed most was the headlight treatment.  Notice how the usual chrome bezel has been body color matched.  It really gives the front end a completely new look.  Pretty interesting how one small change can really make a huge impact.

June 5th - A couple of weekends ago I drove to NY using the PA Turnpike.  I guess I must have been tired, because it wasn't until I was up at the gate, that I realized that I was in an EZPass lane and not a cash toll booth.  Well, at least it wasn't as bad as the folks in the picture.

June 3rd - LED taillights are quickly becoming one of the most popular upgrades you can do to your car.  It's subtle way of improving the look of the car, and making sure some yahoo behind you doesn't crunch your rear bumper.  A local company, Shiny-Hiney, is in the business of improving the look of older cars.

June 2nd - So next week is Chevelle~abration in Nashville and I'm still not sure I'm going to make it.  The big problem is getting the power steering working.  When I had my '70 SS 396 built several years ago I made the mistake of putting on an entire March Performance pulleys kit.  It never worked right, but since it cost me $1,400, I had little choice.  Last year, the misaligned pulleys wobbled the front end of the power steering pump loose, causing all the oil to leak out.  The solution from March was to put on one of their remote reservoir systems from an '87 Sunbird.  The problem is that the Sunbird pump requires an "o-ring" style fitting, while the power steering gearbox on the Chevelle is flare.  The local auto parts stores don't sell those fittings or that type of hose, so I've got to put together a custom hose.  Luckily they gave me the name of a company here in town called Power Steering Specialists that has come to the rescue.  Most of their business is big rigs, but they did have the fittings I needed and were willing to help out a fellow car guy.  It's awesome to know that there are companies out there willing to help create solutions, not just pass you off when they don't have something to sell you from a catalog.  Thanks to Tony, Richard, Kevin.
