July 2006
July 25th -  I'm in the middle of going through some old family photos and came across this one I thought was kinda cool.  This is picnic with family friends back in either '70 or '71, I think that's me in the lower left.  But check out the cars in the back ground.  I'm guessing that's a Super Bee and a Valient.  Ok, they aren't Chevelles, but still pretty neat to come across this sort of thing.

July 19th -  Every time I bump into someone they ask about my car.  Well after sitting for a whole year it finally left my garage last week.  A huge thanks to my friend Joe for getting it going.  For those of you who forgot what she looked like, here are some pictures from a couple of years ago.

July 13th -  Last week I mentioned that a Chevelle will be making a noticable appearance on the big screen in an upcoming NASCAR themed movie.  That got me to thinking if there was an index of cars appearing in movies.  Well, lo and behold the Internet Movie Car Database.  This site is comprehensive to say the least!  Chevelle appearances are on pages 39-43 of the Chevrolet section.

July 8th -  The PPG Good Guys Show is at the Ohio State Fairgrounds this weekend.  Although its mostly street rods and the like, you occasionally see a Chevelle or two.  If you don't want to go to the show, be sure to cruise the hotel parking lots in and around Columbus.  I spotted this 1966 Malibu last night after dinner.

July 7th -  Over the holiday I happened to see the movie Cars.  It was entertaining enough for the kids.  Unfortunately only one Chevy made it to the bunch -- a '59 Impala low rider named Ramon.  There is one scene, however, where the lead character car is painted up in a classic Corvette white on red paint scheme, but that's about it for our beloved Bow-ties.
On a better note, the previews showed an upcoming Will Ferrell movie called Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.  In the trailer you can clearly see that a 1969 Chevelle has been painted up in the (in)famous 1966 Smokey Yunick colors.  Mark your calendars the movie comes out next month.
