Hello Martin
I am emailing you from Parry Sound Ontario
Canada which is a town about two and one half hours North of the city of
Toronto. I am 60 years old a retired police detective with a life long love
affair with cars . I started out with my dad and brother on a four year
project a 1928 model A Ford built a 1934 Ford in high school and away we
went. I totally live eat breath muscle cars particularly Chevelle. I spent
22 years in the detective office therefore had little time to enjoy the
hobby until I retired in 1997 at which time I built a 1969 Malibu plain Jane
which I sold. During my travels after that I found a car that had been
sitting in a garage for about 20 years looked it over and bought it. In
Canada if one of these cars was sold here we can obtain the documentation
from GM the vintage vehicle services which I did . I found that this car is
a 1969 true GM documented Chevelle S/S L-78 1 of 201 imported to Canada in
1969. I took three years to restore this car which will be finished this
spring. I have a ton of documentation and my research has not been able to
find another Canadian sold car. These cars [ the L-78 ] were not produced in
Canada thus the import of 201.
Having said this to you my wife and I have a
daughter that wishes to be an optometrist and I have the desire to help her
achieve that goal in university but in order to do that the Chevelle must go
. A government pension does not do it . The problem is that I spent a lot of
money putting the car period correct and it is a special one indeed . I have
located all the seven owners did interviews therefore have a ton of
information as well as documentation of the car. I only went off option on
three issues but kept the original parts . Hooker headers on the motor,
gauge package . and Yenko style rims as I always loved the Trans Am and
Yenko look. I was at a speedorama show this past weekend and met Chip Foose
of the TV show overhaulin and he advised me that this car should go to
someone that is a Chevelle lover so thats why I am contacting some Chevelle
clubs fairly close to Canada. Some car friends that have cars now say I
should take this car to Barrett - Jackson but I am not in a position to do
that. I have contacted some Canadian car clubs which have a mixture of
muscle cars and have not had a reply from them yet . I am sending this email
to you because you Chevelle owners are true Chevelle clubs and owners and I
want to find an honest person to deal with.
So if you know of anyone that is interested
in a marvelous piece of American Muscle history please email me back I
really want my car to go to someone that would enjoy it . My email address
is with this email but here it is also
tthomas11@cogeco.ca thanks so much for your time regards tim
